LOCALRASCAL (Kit) is a Vancouver-based artist and illustrator, working with analog media of graphite, intaglio, and watercolour paint. Born and raised by the sole cemetery in the city, Kit is interested in the time collated in spaces dedicated to death and the dead; where culture, religion, and heritage converge in our mortal realm. Her illustrative work is centred on these grave reflections with a gentle approach for young readers.
Kit graduated from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Illustration. Recent exhibitions include KOMA International Comics Festival (2023) in Brno, Czech Republic; Connecting the Dots (2022), You are small and you are beautiful. (2022), MATRIX (2021), and SAVE IT IN A PILE (2021) at the Michael O’Brian Exhibition Commons at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver, BC, Canada.
